I have been recently writing articles on how to answer some tough F1 interview questions. If you are a student in good academic standing this article is not for you,but if you had backlogs during your course work then read on…There are times when VO can ask you Why you had backlogs ? You might had backlogs in 3rd,4th or 5th semester .Doesn’t matter.

The question is

How many Backlogs you have?

and

why?

So how to answer this tough question ?

The first thing suddenly comes to your mind or might cross your mind is health issue, concentrated on university tournament’s or family commitments. If you are one of the student trying to give these stupid answers rethink. VO knows right away that you are bluffing. Be honest and give him a good solid technical reason.

Some of the courses I had backlogs are mostly in 5th semester and require strong background in thermal engineering. I retook thermal engineering course spent extra hours to hone up on the basics and finally I was able to pass out in first class. This experience gave me good hands on how to better manage my course load.

Don’t exaggerate your answer. Have an eye contact with VO eyes and give a slight smile and answer the question. The last sentence is critical. You should say you had good hands on experience on how to better manage your course load.
